US-based pipeline operator Energy Transfer subsidiary Gulf Run Transmission has received the US energy regulator’s approval to start operations at its Gulf Run natural gas pipeline.

The approval has been issued by the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for the Gulf Run interstate natural gas transmission pipeline in Louisiana.

The pipeline will supply natural gas drawn from key US producing regions to meet the surging demand along the Gulf Coast and international markets.

With a capacity to supply 1.65 billion cubic feet per day, the 135-mile, 42-inch Gulf Run pipeline runs from Westdale to Starks, Louisiana.

Gulf Run will get natural gas from the operator’s intrastate and interstate pipeline network, including production from the Haynesville Shale.

Energy Transfer said the pipeline will have access to volumes produced from all major natural gas basins in the US, including the Permian basin, the Barnett shale, the Marcellus and Utica shales, East Texas, and the Arkoma and Anadarko basins.
