Venture Global Delta LNG has plans to construct a natural gas liquefaction facility in Plaquemines Parish with pipelines beginning in Ouachita Parish and running through Franklin Parish.

The plans were introduced at the Franklin Parish Police Jury’s committee meeting May 1.

Construction of a 630-acre facility on the banks of the Mississippi River could possibly start in late 2019 if all permits are accepted and be completed in 2023, according to information from the company’s website.

Venture Global Delta LNG will receive domestic natural gas from the proposed Delta Express pipeline, consisting of two 42-inch pipelines originating near Perryville. Each of the pipelines will be approximately 287 miles in length and will be routed through Louisiana and Mississippi within one pipeline corridor. When fully developed, Plaquemines LNG will have an export capacity of 20 million metric tonnes per year and be able to accommodate ocean-going vessels with a carrying capacity of up to 185,000 cubic meters.
