Sally Dunlap Fleming is a native of Shreveport who graduated from Tulane University with honors in 1987. She earned her law degree from Louisiana State University in 1990. Following her graduation from law school, Sally clerked in Lafayette, Louisiana, in the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana for the Hon. Mildred E. Methvin, United States Magistrate Judge. Sally was licensed to practice law in Louisiana and all Louisiana federal district courts and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal in 1991.
Sally has been involved in business and real property litigation since she opened her own practice in 1992 in New Orleans, Louisiana. After four years of solo practice, Ms. Fleming was recruited to join Steeg and O’Connor, L.L.C., (now “Steeg Law Firm”) as an associate attorney. At Steeg, Sally handled all aspects of real estate related litigation including title claims and boundary disputes.
Sally opened the Law Office of Sally Dunlap Fleming, P.L.C., in 2001. Currently, Sally heavily involved in the federal case against British Petroleum. Since 2015, she has been working with the Randy Davidson of Davidson & Summers, L.L.C., in Shreveport, Louisiana, and Mike Stag of Smith Stag, L.L.C., in New Orleans in evaluating and litigating cases involving improper deduction by operators of post-production costs from royalty owners.
Sally's great-grandfather was a landman getting tips from his clients in his barbershop located in the basement of the Washington-Youree Hotel in Shreveport. Sally has been a mineral owner since her mother's death in 1992. Sally has served on the NARO Louisiana Board for more than a year. During that time, she has contributed to the Board on a consistent basis including: speaking at Fuel Yourself with Knowledge events, providing speakers at the Louisiana Chapter Annual Convention, and attending the National NARO Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. Sally is an enthusiastic Board Member and may be relied upon to pull her weight and contribute time and ideas to the National Board.
